ALIEN LAND

This monochromatic work explores the morphology of landscape through the integration of planetary scale and terrestrial structure. The composition juxtaposes an expansive black-and-white terrain with the  presence of a ringed planet in the sky, creating a tension between geological intimacy and cosmic vastness.

Rather than functioning as a narrative science-fiction scene, the painting operates as a study of form, contour, and spatial construction. Mountains, dunes, and sediment-like surfaces are simplified into graphic masses and tonal contrasts, emphasizing the structural rhythms shared between planetary bodies and terrestrial topographies. The ringed planet becomes an extension of the landscape itself, echoing the curvature, layering, and stratification present within the terrain below.

The restricted monochromatic palette allows the work to focus on morphology, depth, and atmospheric compression without the distraction of color. Light and shadow are treated as tools for defining geological volume and spatial ambiguity, creating a landscape that oscillates between abstraction and recognizable planetary imagery.
